The COLOR Series: YELLOW

The COLOR Series: YELLOW

The power of color in your life is dynamic. Color affects you physically, and emotionally. Finding the right color to put in the right place is very important to build a safe and energetic environment that expresses who you are and gives you peace of mind and connection to your living and working space.

The vibrational effects of color are scientifically proven, can be measured, and felt right in your body. Bring in the right color and create the feel you want in your environment.

YELLOW: THE SUNSHINE COLOR

Yellow is a happy and vibrant high energy color. It represents the center of your personal power and strength. This is the area of the personality, and the intellect. Yellow stimulates mental activity and is great to surround yourself with while you study or learning something new.

Yellow relates to your self worth. It is associated with how you feel about yourself and how you feel others perceive you. It stimulates your curiosity and increases your awareness. Yellow helps you stand up for yourself! You go girl!

The color yellow is another one that must be chosen carefully. It can give off massive energy and can make you feel hyped up when it is on the walls around you. I have seen so many people use yellow in hopes of that sunshine beachy feel and when they get it on the walls it is so loud they feel like they are being electrocuted. It can be overwhelming.

To choose yellow for your living space first think about where you are putting it. What do you do in that room? Remember it stimulates you mentally so keep that in mind when you are choosing. If you want yellow in a place that you want to relax be sure to choose the softer yellows. A soft yellow is livable and gives you the energy and lift without screaming at you. To find a soft yellow, look at the bottom of the paint strip…the darkest and brightest color. You can really see what the yellow looks like there and then you back off. Go back up to the top of the strip to the lightest 2 shades. Even though you can hardly see the yellow or it looks too light, when you get it on the wall, it will give off the yellow that you were drawn to. A little yellow goes a long way. Just the hint of soft yellow makes the statement of sunshine most people are looking for. You really are trying to create a feeling with color, not a headache!

You can introduce the bold bright yellows on furniture, pillows, and other accessories to bring the bright sunlight spots to your room. Use of a warm yellow (brown undertones) makes it feel like sunlight on a tropical beach somewhere in the islands. Now who doesn’t want to live there?

Use yellow as a reminder to value yourself and your life. To be happy. Feel the sunlight on you as you see the happy and joyful yellow around you. Let yellow stimulate your intellect and encourage you to learn something new and be open to more personal wisdom.

Touches of yellow can brighten up a room full of neutrals. Yellow is another color that goes well with just about any color because it is a primary color. It goes well with lots of other colors that have yellow in them, and are opposites on the color wheel. It looks great with white, blue, red, pink, green, orange, blue, and brown. And don’t forget black and yellow. A clean classic combination.

The use of a strong bold yellow in a kitchen wakes you up to the warmth of sunshine in the morning and surrounds you with the glow of a sunset at night. When choosing a bold yellow find one with the warm undertones to keep it pleasant, happy, and stimulating all at once! Bring in the sunshine, be happy, and learn something new!
